Many entities are involved in Cowlitz River Project fisheries planning. Some are members of the Fisheries Technical Committee (FTC) created with their signing of the Settlement Agreement in August 2000. That agreement formed the basis for the Fisheries and Hatchery Management Plan and other requirements within the Cowlitz River Project federal license.
Members of the Fisheries Technical Committee are listed first and marked as such followed by others actively involved.

Conservation Caucus - FTC Member
American Rivers and Trout Unlimited are national
resource conservation membership organizations.
When each signed the Settlement Agreement they
agreed to designate one FTC representative forming
the "conservation caucus."

The
Washington
Department of Fish and
Wildlife’s
mission is “Sound Stewardship of Fish and
Wildlife.” Among their goals is sustainable
management of marine resources to maintain the
economic well-being and stability of the state’s
fishing industry and to enhance recreational and
commercial fishing in the state and offshore
waters.

Yakama Nation - FTC Member
Yakama
Nation’s
fisheries resource management mission is “To
preserve, protect, enhance, and restore
culturally important fish populations and their
habitats throughout the Zone of Influence of the
Yakama Nation and to protect the rights of
Yakama Nation members to utilize these resources
as reserved for them in the Treaty of 1855 (12
Stat 951)”

Friends of the Cowlitz
Friends
of the Cowlitz
works to restore the runs of anadromous fish
(salmon, steelhead and cutthroat trout) to the
Cowlitz River and it’s tributaries.
Cowlitz Tribe
The
Cowlitz Tribe
was historically based along the Cowlitz and Lewis
Rivers, as well as having a strong presence at Fort
Vancouver. It now has approximately 3000 members
and actively monitors and protects native fishing
interests along the Cowlitz River.
CPR-Fish
CPR-Fish is a citizens group dedicated to
perpetuating sustainable populations of anadromous
and resident fish in the Cowlitz River Basin
Cowlitz Game & Anglers
Cowlitz Game & Anglers is an organization that
lobbies for and helps with fund raising to enhance
sport fishing improvements along the Cowlitz
River.
Coastal Conservation Association
Coastal
Conservation Association is a
non-profit organization that advises and
educates the public on conservation of marine
resources.
Sport Fishing Guides of Washington
Lower Columbia Fish Recovery Board
The
Lower Columbia Fish Recovery Board
(LCFRB) is a group of 15 volunteers that includes a
commissioner from each affected Washington county
(Clark, Cowlitz, Lewis, Skamania, and Wahkiakum),
as well as representatives of cities, tribes, state
lawmakers, hydroelectric utilities, small timber
owners, property rights advocates, and
environmentalists. They research declining fish
populations and coordinate recovery efforts across
the region.

The
Lower Columbia Fish Enhancement Group
is a
non-regulatory, non-partisan, salmon recovery
organization.
Bonneville Power Administration & Lewis County PUD
BPA,
in cooperation with Lewis County
PUD, state
and federal agencies and Tacoma Power, has
constructed a downstream anadromous fish
collection facilty at the Cowlitz Falls Dam.
Hatchery Science Review Group
The
Hatchery Scientific Review Group
(HSRG) is an independent scientific panel
established and funded by Congress to provide an
autonomous and credible evaluation of hatchery
reform as part of the Puget Sound and Coastal
Washington Hatchery Reform Project.

Office creates and
maintains opportunities for recreation, protects
the best of the state's wild lands, and contributes
to the state's efforts to recover salmon.
